Appearance

Appearance in Singularity is a handful of decisions that carry across the whole desktop. You will find them in the desktop settings.

Choose a Theme pack and then a Wallpaper pack, or select your own image. The wallpaper you set on the desktop also shows up, blurred, on the login screen.

Wallpaper sources are providers supplied by plugins. Singularity ships stock, Bing, and OCS wallpaper plugins. The OCS and Bing sources are opt-in and disabled by default. After enabling one in Plugins, use Explore Wallpaper Sources, described in the interface as Browse sources enabled from Plugins.

Dark mode is a single toggle. Flip it and the whole desktop changes together, apps included, and your accent comes with it.

The accent is the color the desktop uses for buttons, switches, sliders, selected rows, and the borders around your windows. There are three ways to set it:

  • Named colors give you a set of dependable choices: blue, teal, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, and slate.
  • From the wallpaper reads the dominant tone of your current wallpaper and uses it as the accent.
  • Custom opens a picker with a saturation and value field, a hue bar, a hex entry, and an eyedropper for sampling a color from the screen.

A live preview shows the accent in context before you commit to it, and the choice is applied everywhere at once.

Beyond the accent, you can change the look more deeply:

  • Singularity theme picks the style applied to Singularity apps, with any user themes you have installed listed alongside the built-in default.
  • A fine-tuning section lets you set the GTK 3, GTK 4, and Qt themes separately, so apps from across the toolkits can be brought into line. The Qt option appears when a Kvantum-based setup is available.

You can also choose which side the window buttons sit on, and whether the close, minimize, and maximize buttons appear, with a live titlebar preview as you change it.
