Control Center

The Control Center is the panel that slides in from the right. It is where the system lives, so you do not have to hunt through separate windows to change how your machine behaves.

Open it from the cluster on the right of the panel. At a glance you get the things you reach for most:

  • Network, including Wi-Fi and VPN.
  • Sound, with a volume slider and a way to pick input and output devices.
  • Brightness.
  • Battery status and the power profile.
  • Power actions: shut down, restart, and lock.

Your avatar and user details sit at the top.

Press the pencil in the header to edit the tile area. Primary tile actions are disabled while editing, so a click or drag cannot change the underlying system setting by accident.

Drag active tiles to reorder them. Press the minus button to move one into the inactive section, or press the plus button on an inactive tile to return it. You can also drag tiles between the two sections and place them at the position shown by the drop guide. The order and active set are saved as soon as they change.

The Compact Mode switch appears below the tiles while editing. It turns the tiles into circular icon controls and fits six on each row. Click an icon for its primary action; press and hold it to open its settings page when one is available. Press the header button again when you are done.

From the Control Center you can step into the full settings, one page per area: desktop and wallpaper, sound, network, displays, keyboard, accounts, apps, bluetooth, region and language, date and time, notifications, accessibility, plugins, and system information.

Some of this is mirrored in the panel itself. The cluster on the right shows the current network, the volume, and the battery level without opening anything, and the clock and notification button sit beside it.
